Wtf Is Dragon Wisdom?!

Dragons are definitely among the weirder, more stupefying aspects of Womb Shamanism.

I remember a time when hearing of dragons felt like a vague and elusive concept. It didn’t make me feel anything, except for a sense of, eh? Really… dragons?!

Fast forward a year later, and every time my teachers mentioned the word ‘dragon,’ I'd start melting into a pool of hot tears. The time was right. I visited Big Island in Hawaii, where the volcano known as Mother Pele and her lava fiercely soar, and I knew I had met dragon power.

Over the following months, the dragons came alive in my life. They were everywhere, and they held my hand as I faced some of the greatest adversity yet on my spiritual path.

Dragons became central to my journey, as I committed to re-awakening my own elemental and creative power.

Wtf Is a Dragon?

There are many dimensions to the dragon frequency. Simply put, ‘dragons’ refer to cosmic and earthly creative intelligences — the birthing powers at the heart of our universe.

One way to personally experience these vast, primordial intelligences in our world is through our relationship to the elements, the elemental dragons.

In today’s article, I’d like to explore the elemental aspect of the dragons with you, and identify which dragon holds your home element.

Generally speaking, we tend to feel most comfortable in one element. This home element usually represents gifts we’ve already integrated, or perhaps carry over from past lifetimes.

As you feel into each element’s qualities, notice which dragon speaks the most to you.

Which dragon do you feel at home with? And which dragon is calling you to integrate its gifts as your own at this time of your life?

Are you sensitive and attuned to the realms of the psyche, of the soul, and the unconscious? Are you soft, stirring, and sometimes weepy with torrential love or sadness, or gushing with ecstasy?

Do you feel at home swimming and bathing in bodies of water around the world? Do you feel cleansed and regulated after a good shower or a good cry?

Is your sexual energy fluid and fertile? Do you flow with creativity? Do you easily navigate the realms of the Dreamtime and of human emotion?

Are you a Water Dragon? A mermaid, an anointer, a grail-bearer — one who blesses the world with her overflowing fountain of soulful love?

Or Are You Most Turned on by Fire?

Are you passionate and visionary? Are you fierce, and sometimes furious?

Do you feel compelled by intense, wild energies?

Do you feel the sap of life rising in your blood when you’re excited?

Do you ferociously stand for what you believe in?

Do you turn to fire to purify your life? Do you seek the comfort of warm embers when things seem to go cold in your heart?

Are you fascinated with smoke and the magic of dancing flames?

Are you a Fire Dragon, a revolutionary who can melt through obstacles with the power of your unstoppable passion?

Are You Soaring as an Air Dragon?

Do you resonate with the high frequencies of Otherworld? Have you always known how to fly?

Do you naturally rise up to the ethers for wisdom, vision, and inspiration?

Are you a born poet? Do you love playing with words, sound, music, and frequency?

Have you often felt surrounded by angels or spirit guides? Do you feel a special kinship with birds?

Do you long for the vibrations of Spirit and remember what your celestial home feels like? Are you thrilled by cosmic wisdom, other-planetary beings, and diving into your stellar origins? Do you feel soothed when you look at the stars?

Are you an Air Dragon, flying swiftly through dimensions, retrieving gifts and visions from spiritual realms?

Or Are You a Rooted Earth Dragon?

Do you sense the heartbeat of Gaia in your own? Are you naturally grounded?

Are you steady and dependable? Do you relish in the pull of gravity? Are you relaxed and full when you’re in nature?

Do you feel rather supple and strong in your body? Are you comfortable with the practical, day-to-day tasks of human life?

Do you love the sound and feeling of drums? Do you love touch, cuddle, movement and dance?

Are you innately mothering and nurturing? Do you love being around children? Do you love to nest and gestate?

Do you value knowing where your roots are and feeling anchored in your family, home, community, culture, or traditions?

Do you delight in the rhythm of seasons and the cycle of the moon?

Are you an Earth Dragon, one who knows in her bones she’s both child of Gaia and a mother-father of New Earth?

Journeying with the Elements

We can find ourselves spending an entire phase of our life within an element. A time when we are initiated by it, where a dragon shows us an aspect of ourselves we haven’t seen before, guiding us to bring home a lost piece of our soul, and eventually revealing to us a new way of living, a new possibility.

Can you think of such a time in your life? When you were held in a particular elemental energy? Brewing, learning its ways, its lessons, its secrets?

Just like we have a home element, we also have a challenge element. An element that unconsciously brings up resistance, fears, frustration — and beneath the surface, buried grief.

A kind of forbidden place we have carefully locked away in a hidden part of ourselves. Ironically, this is often the very elemental energy we attract over and over again in people and situations, in order to re-integrate it in our conscious lives.

On the shaman’s path, we are eventually asked to go into our complementary or challenge element, to cross the forbidden doorway in our psyche, and integrate its medicine into our being.

Elemental Signatures, Elemental Balance

The dragons show us that the elements are part of everything. Every energy, every living creation, every person has an elemental makeup.

When an element goes too far out of balance, we can experience sickness (physically or soulfully), chaos, and pain.

When the elements are in harmony, the flow of creation can dance, sing, and birth through us.

The Divine wants us to know ourselves, to know the wild universe that lives within us and through us.

As we alchemize and re-integrate all elements within us, a magical doorway opens at the center of our being. This great doorway is what allows us to travel between worlds, and to be a living bridge between the spiritual and physical planes.

Dragon Beings Across Traditions

On one level, dragons are the living reality of elemental wisdom. As we attune to a dragon, or it begins to attune to us (!), we start to see and sense it in and around us. In the sky, in the water, in animals, or in other unique and surprising, magical manifestations of life.

Dragons don’t necessarily look like the traditional image we have of them. But you will recognize them by the feeling they give you — raw, primordial, pure, awe-inspiring, deeply benevolent, otherworldly yet so real. Actually, dragons are so innately part of this world that they are present in just about every culture around the world.

Dragons can feel like protectors, guardians, guides, primordial parents (!). They’re also teachers, helping us reclaim our power, ground in a greater reality, and root in our soul instinct.

They teach us about the secret (or long-forgotten) fabric of universe, and how to harmonize with the cosmic and earthly flow of life.

So, which dragon are you? And are you ready for a crazy, fun, life-changing and majestic adventure with the dragons?
